Girl with a Pearl Earring (2003)

The story behind the masterpiece Girl with a Pearl Earring is portrayed in Peter Webber's movie of the same title. The film centres on the painter Johannes Vermeer (played by Colin Firth) and the young maid (Scarlett Johansson). One of the things that makes this movie work is Scarlett's beauty and presence that makes the tension between both characters so riveting.

Marriage Story (2019)

You may have seen the powerful scene between Nicole Barber (Scarlett Johansson) and Charlie Barber (Adam Driver) that floated around social media for a particular time (which also inspired people to create memes). The debilitating dialogue—prompted by their divorce—is enough a reason to watch this drama directed by Noah Baumbach which received various nominations. It's also quite interesting to see now that Scarlett is expecting her first child with Colin Jost.

Nanny Diaries (2007)

The Nanny Diaries is based on  Emma McLaughlin's novel that tells the story of a college graduate named Annie "Nanny" Braddock (Scarlett Johansson) who's mistaken for a nanny. Now she's stuck babysitting a spoiled child of a wealthy family in New York. Directed by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini, this fun but emotional film is worth binging on a Friday night.

Her (2013)

You never really see Scarlett Johansson appear on-screen throughout this Spike Jonze film. However, Scarlett will make you fall in love just as deep as Theodore Twombly (played by the incredible Joaquin Phoenix) does. The film follows the story of Theodore, a writer who falls in love with an Artificial Intelligence system voiced by Scarlett.

Jojo Rabbit (2019)

Jojo Rabbit is a comedy-drama directed by the hilarious Taika Watiti, who also stars in the movie as Adolf Hitler—but only as an imaginary manifestation of Hitler Youth cadet Jojo Betzler (played by Roman Griffin Davis). Jojo's mother Rosie (Scarlett Johansson), however, defies the law by hiding a young Jew in the house. This film will make you tear up, whether you're laughing or crying.
