Fireworks

This year, fireworks will be set off at five different heartland locations from 8.15 pm on August 9. This is the same time the fireworks display at the main parade in Marina Bay will go off.

Here’s where you can watch it:

  1. Jurong West Stadium
  2. Woodlands Stadium
  3. Bedok Stadium
  4. Site of former Tampines Junior College
  5. Field in front of Ang Mo Kio Public Library

If you are planning to go, do show up early as public viewing will be on a first-come-first-served basis.

The Red Lions Freefall

The skydiving Red Lions are always a favourite and on August 7, the public will see members of the Singapore Armed Forces Parachute Team conducting freefall jumps at around 9 am. You can see them here:

  • Open field next to Junction 8 in Bishan
  • Open field along North Buona Vista Road, near Ghim Moh Food Market

According to organisers, the Red Lions will engage with the public after their jumps.

On National Day, two Chinook helicopters, each escorted by two Apache attack helicopters, will fly the state flag across Singapore from 5.25 pm to 6.15 pm.

You will be able to see the fly past of the flag at areas such as Bukit Panjang, Bukit Timah, Kranji, Choa Chu Kang, Jurong and West Coast as well as Khatib, Sengkang, Punggol, Bedok, Pasir Ris, Changi and East Coast.

You will also get to see six F-16 fighter jets flying across the nation in a delta formation from 5.50 pm to 6.15 pm

Carnivals

This year, themed carnivals will also be taking place across the island as organisers attempt to engage Singaporeans.

“The National Day Parade (NDP) 2022 Heartland Celebrations seek to engage Singaporeans, their families and communities in the National Day festivities,” said parade organisers and the People’s Association (PA) in a joint statement on July 13.

The carnivals will see exhibitions, performances and activities for families on August 6 from 4 pm to 9 pm.

Here’s where you can join the fun:

  • Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, Ficus Green - “Celebrations in the Park”
  • Punggol open field beside Waterway Point - “One Heart @ North-East”
  • Open field next to Sembawang MRT Station - “Family Bliss @ North-West”
  • Open field next to Buona Vista MRT Station - “Celebration with Our Stars”

There will also be a carnival taking place on August 7 at Geylang Wisma Serai from 4 pm to 9 pm.

You need to be fully vaccinated to enjoy the carnival and entry tickets and coupons for the carnival will be made available to purchase from community clubs from July 14 at 10 am.
