The Korean star worked together with brands such as New Balance, Blackyak, Evezari and Banolim pizzas to provide sneakers, pizzas, coats, blankets and first aid kits to various shelters and health centres.

The donations included 1,000 pairs of New Balance sneakers, 2,000 Backyak coats and winter gear and 2,000 Banolim pizzas to teenagers and children at shelters.

She also helped out health care centres by getting them 300 Evezari bedding sets and 2,000 Kyungdong Pharmaceutical first aid kits.

“As the anniversary of her debut approached, IU wanted to donate everyday necessities to those who needed them most,” said IU’s label, Edam Entertainment, in a statement.

It added that IU had personally contacted each brand for the donations and that she planned to contribute half the cost of each donation. This amount comes up to 425 million won (S$510,000).

IU’s generous donation certainly comes as no surprise to fans as she is known for enjoying charity work. In fact, she donated 500 million won (S$570,000) to organisations such as the Korea Pediatric Cancer Foundation and the Korean Unwed Mothers Families Association this year in honour of her birthday in May.
