In a new win for Asian representation, comedian Jo Koy is set to pilot a sitcom about a Filipino-American nurse on the American Broadcasting Company (ABC)

Name us one person who hasn't heard of Jo Koy. Arguably one of the most famous Filipino comedians out there, Jo Koy is known for his stand-up routine that often pokes fun at nuances of Filipino culture. There's no doubt he's proud of his heritage; now, he's bringing it along with him to TV—more specifically, unto the American Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) via a pilot of his new sitcom, Josep

A single-cam comedy, Josep was first announced in May 2021, during the time of its development. It follows the life of a recently divorced Filipino-American nurse (played by Koy himself) has he attempts to navigate the world of dating and fatherhood with his mother and children. Executive produced by Koy and Steve Joe, Josep will also star Mia Katigbak as Lorna, Koy's onscreen mother. 

Fans of Koy's comedic acts are in for a treat with Josep as the show continues to explore the cominc's talents and culture. Aside from performing at comedy clubs, Koy is also famous for starring in multiple Netflix specials which includes Jo Koy: In His Elements. Koy, who has been open about his thoughts on the importance of Asian (particularly Filipino) representation is also set to release a fourth Netflix special in the future.
