The Happier Than Ever singer recently revealed that she used a body double for a part of her performance at Coachella this year

Billie Eilish is no stranger to breaking records. Earlier this year, she became the youngest to have completed the "triple crown" of film music awards by winning an Oscar, Golden Globe and Grammy for music created specifically for a film, according to Guinness World Records.

Now, she is slated to become the youngest solo headliner and the first female headliner for Glastonbury Festival since Adele in 2016. During her appearance on the Matt Wilkinson Show, the 20-year-old singer made a shocking confession: she told Wilkinson that she had used a body double at the beginning of her set at Coachella back in April.

The decoy proved advantageous for Eilish as she was able to roam around the festival grounds before she was set to perform on stage. “Nobody looked at me,” said the singer.

To gain that freedom, she used one of her backup dancers.

She explained: “[At] the beginning of Coachella, I had a body double. One of my dancers for the show, I dressed her up in a show look that I had worn before.” The body double was up on stage throughout her intro sequence at Coachella.

“I dressed her up in a show look that I had worn before. We got a black wig and we put buns in it and we gave her a mask and sunglasses and she wore my shoes and my socks.”

Nobody suspected a thing as Eilish walked among the crowd with a big black coat, a traffic-like vest with a hood and sunglasses.

Eilish was also asked if she had donned a disguise at other festivals she had previously attended to watch her favourite artists from the crowd.

She replied: “Yeah, but I was a different person then and it didn’t work! I've done it though occasionally in different places, and it's really nice when you're able to do it.”

No stranger to dressing up in disguises, she mentioned putting up a disguise to have dinner with a friend back in 2020. She also shared her experiences of constantly being in the public eye. In 2021, her decision to go blonde was motivated by that very reason.

Going out with blonde hair would not garner more attention than if she had went out with her signature green hair.

“I wanted anonymity,” she remarked. “I went to a park with a friend, and I was like, ‘No, I can’t take off my hood!’ I was terrified of the paparazzi and these stalkers I’ve had.”

On a more positive note, the singer teased her new and yet-to-be-released track TV, during her concert at AO Arena in Manchester, England on June 7. The seven-time Grammy award winner unveiled the new melancholic, ballad track during her show. She had written the song along with her longtime collaborator and writer-producer brother, Finneas.

Eilish will be performing her second show in Singapore on August 21. Tickets go on sale to the public on June 28 at 10.00am.
