4. Lovestruck in the City

While it garnered mix reviews, this web series, which premiered on KakaoTV and eventually became available for streaming through Netflix, brought a unique format far from the usual romance plots we've all seen in the past. It puts the spotlight on six people who share their dating woes and how they face them, including Park Jae-won (Ji Chang-wook), an adorable 32-year-old architect and Lee Eun-o (Kim Ji-won), a 29-year-old freelancer, who lives a simple life. The two met at a surfing hub in Yangyang Beach and got entangled in a complicated love story. 5. Empress Ki

Ji Chang-wook's longest (with 51 episodes at that) and highest-rating K-drama, Empress Ki, which also stars Hallyu royalty Ha Ji-won (who played the role of Ki Seungnyang, a Goryeo-born woman who ascends to power despite the restrictions of the era's class system) is a gripping story about breaking barriers, love, hate and war. Despite the record-high ratings (it's pilot episode earned a viewership rating of 33.9 per cent), the drama was caught in a controversy for including fictional elements with questionable accuracy. Watch on Netflix.

6. Suspicious Partner

Debonair prosecutor Noh Ji-wook (Ji Chang-wook) works together with legal trainee Eun Bong-hee (Nam Ji-hyun) in solving a case that involves a psychopath killer. 7. Hard Hit

This time as a villain, Ji Chang-wook plays the role of Jin-woo, the phone caller who threatens Lee Seong-gyu (Jo Woo-Jin), a manager of a branch of a bank in Busan. This was the start of a nightmare situation for Lee Seong-gyu's family. Watch on IQIYI.

8. Melting Me Softly

The drama also stars Hospital Playlist's Shin Hyun-bin (who will return to the screen with Song Joong-ki in this year's much-anticipated, Chaebol Family's Youngest Son), The Last Empress' Yoon So-yi and Yoo Seung-ho (who starred in Moonshine alongside Lee hye-ri).
