This women's month, Imahica Art Gallery celebrates the visions of the Philippines' generation of female artist. Read on to know more about this three-week long exhibit

The La Moderna Filipina exhibit of Imahica Art Gallery was filled with empowered female artists on the day of its opening last March 19. Through this event, female contemporary artists will have the opportunity to share their respective stories and advocacies and get to know fellow creatives in the field.

Headlined by the matriarchs of modern women’s art in the country, the exhibition presents a long view of the preoccupations of female artists like Ninj-Reyes Abay, Agnes Arellano, Flor Baradi, Rax Bautista, Kathleen Dagum, Jane Ebarle, Jade Fulgar, Irish Galon, Julie Lluch, Gabi Nazareno, Julieanne Ng, Katti Sta. Ana, Lhean Storm, Beatrix Syjuco, Jean Syjuco, Maxine Syjuco, Pat Tañedo, Valen Valero, the members of WAPAK Collective, Ev Yu, and Phyllis Zaballero.

The artists included in the roster are established and emerging names in the local arts scene who hail from different parts of the country.

Besides providing an avenue for some of the country's most talented female artists, the exhibit also aims to showcase how women from all walks of life can fill an empty space with ideas and works that brim with interesting takes on pressing issues.

"Even more interesting, these individuals lead other lives, denoting the empowered choices for women and the diversity of spaces that they occupy today. Artists above all, they are also writers, jewellers, teachers, economists, leaders, and parents," Team Imahica Art said in a statement.

"Such richness of lives can be gleaned from the styles of their works—from mythological to domestic, personal to political, sculptural to conceptual, and figurative to abstract," it added.

There is a wide variety of materials used in the exhibition; some of them include acrylic, print, fabric, watercolour, mixed media, found objects, plaster, transmedia, photography, sculpture, ceramic, and terra cotta. "The artworks in this show are for all seasons and persuasions. They have come, are here to stay: women’s time, women’s art."

The show will run from March 19 until May 10, 2022. For more information, please contact Imahica Art at +63917 894 5646 or +632 7622 4008 or email thegallery@Imahica.art.
