Remaining true to its core, the first exhibit of this two-part series is meant to highlight the talent of grassroots artists whose lives have been influenced by the sub-cultures that helped shaped them.

The States of Cadence exhibit features 19 artists who were asked to create artwork that portrays how they "see the collective energy of today's world".

Later, these artists produced striking pieces ranging from mixed media and paintings to prints and photographs. Viewers will be drawn to each work as it reflects the challenges and triumphs of each artist.

One of the artists featured in the exhibit is Archie Geotina, who has produced black and white photographs of Filipina surfers wearing traditional terno and Filipiniana gowns while surfing.

Michael Eijansantos, an ocean photographer who has published the first surfing coffee table book titled "Locals Perspectives", is also included in the group. Joining the rest is Natalia Larrauri, a young film photographer from Siargao who has her eye on one goal: to normalise the expression of the woman's body. The uplifting and comical works of artist and designer Mikee Silva can also be found in the exhibit.

Viewers will also find impressive works of art by husband and wife artist-duo Christopher and Maddie Camcam from the United States and Chiara Daez Capony from Belgium.

Some even depict the youthful spirits of the artists as seen on Alecca Adarna and Corina Borromeo's glow-in-the-dark works, Nikkie Ocean and Camila Öster Yu's watercolour pieces, and Ana Abigail's artwork.

The mixed-media paintings of the ocean by creative entrepreneur Jof Sering and silkscreen prints by JP Sarmiento, a La Union-based video producer, cameraman, and surf enthusiast, will also surely leave viewers in awe.
