Hosted by Gillian Howard, co-founder of the fair, guests were immersed in an engaging and interactive Web3 art experience with thousands of artworks on display.
When the first Digital Art Fair Xperience opened last autumn, it became Asia’s first physical art fair dedicated to digital, NFT and crypto art. Such was the inaugural edition’s success that the fair returned this year with an even more diverse exhibition, which members of the Tatler community were able to experience before it opened to the public two days later.
For a three-week period between October 20 and November 6, the 20,000 sq ft venue was transformed into a wonderland of digital art, featuring works by leading Chinese contemporary pop artist Jacky Tsai, alongside a showcase of digital artwork from renowned international galleries.
Guests were taken on a private tour of the exhibition by Howard, who stopped to pose for photos with friends among the impressive displays of art occupying every inch of the venue—from up-and-coming artists to virtual and augmented reality art.
Once back from adventure, Tatler friends headed into a private dining space lined with LED screens for a feast that delighted all the senses. A performance by the Hong Kong Ballet had each attendee on the edge of their seats as the dancers’ choreography was mirrored by movements on the screens. Afterwards, speeches were made with Howard’s in particular conveying her passion for her work.
“Those who know me know that I didn’t start the Digital Art Fair for a paycheck. There is easier work to do that pays the bills. This job is not for the faint-hearted. I wanted to do something different in the art world, and I’m deeply grateful for the artists and galleries that came to support us,” she said.
After dinner, psychic entertainer Stuart Palm chose William Lim and Stephanie Ho Poon for an exploration of the unconscious mind in a jaw-dropping performance that left guests stunned. The energy of the evening truly underline the limitless potential of the art world as new technologies are introduced, leaving everyone eager to see what comes next.
