The culturally immersive festival aims to reinvigorate Peranakan culture by exploring the literary works that explore various aspects of Peranakan heritage

The Baba Nyonya Literary Festival is back by popular demand.

The culturally immersive festival, which is hosted by The Peranakan Association Singapore, aims to preserve and promote Peranakan culture through displaying the literary works of both Peranakan and non-Peranakan writers. The inaugural festival, which sold out last year, will be held this year on March 19 and 20, 2022, from 1 to 4pm at the National Library Building, and the guest of honour this year is former general Winston Choo.

Here’s what you can expect from the festival: Panel discussions moderated by relevant experts of the Peranakan culture to explore the myriad aspects of Peranakan heritage;  learn the secrets of culinary recipes from expert Peranakan cooks, who have skilfully fused modernity with heritage; or allow yourself to be captivated by the romantic tales on the rich lifestyles of Peranakans of yore.

Of course, being a literary festival, it will also display books by various writers and moderators, which will be available for sale.

This year, the two-day festival will consist of a physical and a virtual event which will take place at the National Library Building The Pod (Level 16), 100 Victoria Street, Singapore 188064.

Though the physical (in-venue) tickets for Day 2 (March 20) have been sold out, the tickets for Day 1 (March19) are currently still available. Online (livestream) tickets for both days are still available. Tickets now are available for sale here.
