The virtual event meant that a total of 240 dinners were delivered to the homes of attendees, where they were served an 11-course Tingkat Tok Panjang dining experience curated by renowned Peranakan chefs Violet Oon, Sylvia Tan and Christopher Tan and prepared by chefs at Shangri-La Hotel. Sake and champagne were also delivered to guests.
Besides the delightful meal, the event also saw a fashion show featuring homegrown brands and designers Lai Chan, Raymond Wong and Flower Diamond and Foundation Jewellers.
Among the highlights of the evening was the crowning of 14 best-dressed guests who submitted their photos in their attires according to the event’s Peranakan theme. Some of the prizes for the winners included Queenmark shawls, a jewellery set by Risis, two bottles of Sakura gin, dining vouchers from Shangri-La Hotel, Takashimaya and Design Orchard, a Rumah Kim Choo bag and cherki playing cards.
“The guests were very happy to have such a unique menu of Peranakan dinner that they enjoyed very much, while accompanied by drinks and goodie bags containing Tatler and Peranakan magazines, History of Whoo beauty products and a Peranakan notebook,” said Genevieve Peggy Jeffs, chairperson of the organising committee. She is also the first vice president of The Peranakan Association Singapore.
