One month shy of the couple's tenth wedding anniversary, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge pay a visit to a Covid-19 vaccination centre at Westminster Abbey

It has been an emotional day in England, as the country marked the one year anniversary of its first nationwide Covid-19 lockdown and commemorated the many lives lost throughout the pandemic. Prince Charles led a national day of reflection with a video statement and a moment of silence was held in the capital at noon.

"We are emerging from this time with a renewed confidence in one another," Prince Charles said. "And with a strength and faith in our society, richly diverse in its many communities and cultures, but united in its commitment to the common good and the welfare of others—particularly those most vulnerable."

This morning, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, visited the Covid-19 vaccination centre stationed inside Westminster Abbey. The visit was particularly meaningful because Westminster Abbey is where the couple married in April 2011—nearly 10 years ago.

"We have all been inspired by the resourcefulness we have witnessed, humbled by the dedication shown by so many, and moved, beyond words, by the sacrifices we have seen," Prince Charles said.

"Whatever our faith or philosophy may be, let us take a moment together to remember those who have been lost, to give thanks for their lives, and to acknowledge the inexpressible pain of parting. In their memory, let us resolve to work for a future inspired by our highest values, that have been displayed so clearly by the people of this country through this most challenging of times."

While at Westminster Abbey, the Duke and Duchess lit candles in remembrance of the 125,000 British lives lost to the global Covid-19 pandemic.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, wore a cream-colour scalloped-edge Catherine Walker dress coat and clove-colour suede Jimmy Choo pumps for the visit to Westminster Abbey.
