The marriage between the couple, who met in 2019, was a "small ceremony", according to a Downing Street spokesman who added that the couple would be having a proper celebration with family and friends as well as a honeymoon next summer.

The wedding was kept extremely quiet but if you are curious, here's everything you need to know about the couple's nuptials.

Johnson and Symonds were first romantically linked back in 2019. Symonds used to work in the Conservative Party press office in 2010. She later went on to work on Johnson's campaign to get re-elected as mayor of London. She was the head of communications before she left in 2018 to become the head of communications for the Aspinall Foundation.

It was around this time that Johnson and his ex-wife, Marina Wheeler, announced that they would be getting a divorce after being married for 25 years.

Johnson and Symonds got together in 2019 and got engaged in February 2020 when they announced that Symonds was pregnant. Wilfred, their son, was born last April.

Johnson was also previously married to Allegra Mostyn-Owen which makes Symonds his third wife.

On Sunday, The Daily Mail reported that there were 30 guests in attendance at Johnson's wedding which is the current number of attendees allowed under the Covid-19 regulations in Britain. The Catholic ceremony, which was officiated by Father Daniel Humphreys, was also kept extremely quiet.

Part of this was because his wedding in the church was rather controversial. Johnson has been married twice before. However, the Roman Catholic Church does allow divorcees to remarry if their previous marriages took place outside the Roman Catholic Church.

The couple had initially sent out invitations for a July 2022 wedding. However, the cathedral went into lockdown at 1.30 pm on May 29 and guests were ushered out.

Shortly after, Symonds arrived in a limo and the wedding took place. It was not made clear who was in attendance.

4. Symonds wore a Christos Costarellos dress

At the cosy ceremony, Symonds was pictured wearing a beautiful wedding dress that was designed by Athens-based Christos Costarellos.

In a thrifty move, the £2,870 wedding dress was actually rented by the bride.
