A chance meeting at a restaurant culminated in a two-city, two-ceremony wedding for Muhammad Rahmat Geneid and Chika Tatsuzawa. For the akad nikah, the groom’s home was transformed into a floral palace where his parents, Dato’ Robert Geneid and Datuk Raziah Mahmud-Geneid welcomed friends and family, including the bride’s parents Kazuya and Fumiko Tatsuzawa, HRH Sultanah Kalsom of Pahang and Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew. Two weeks later, the newlyweds, their family and closest friends gathered in Tokyo for a traditional Shinto ceremony. Held at the Meiji Shrine, this leg of the wedding saw the couple taking part in a private ritual witnessed only by their immediate family. Later, everyone adjourned nearby for dinner at the Meiji Kineken.
