The programme for “Alta Moda Manila: Ben Farrales Fashion Show” looked lengthy and guests braced themselves for a long evening ahead. But the pacing of the numbers was fantastically brisk that by half past nine, everything was done—the delicious dinner, the touching tribute, the cultural presentation, and the fashion show that nostalgically brought together the top models of decades past doing their signature sashays on the runway. Organised by the Friends of Ben Farrales—Dr. Milagros How, Mita Rufino, Mellie Ablaza, Helen Ong, Fortune Ledesma, Tina Carlos, Chichi Salas, Nelly Bengzon, Joy Roxas, Danny Dolor, Chito Macapagal—the occasion also served as a fundraiser for the designer’s foundation, the Congregacion Del Santisimo Nombre Del Niño Jesus. Farrales, who was comfortable in his wheelchair, also received a sculptured trophy by Fred Baldemor from former Ambassador Bienvenido Tantoco for his contribution to Philippine fashion.
