The Metropolitan Museum of Manila transformed into a gorgeous banquet hall with a patriotic theme as this year’s annual MET Gala honoured National Artist for Visual Arts Benedicto “BenCab” Cabrera with the launch of the exhibition “BenCab: The Filipino Artist.” Led by fellow National Artist Arturo Luz, and BSP Governor Amando Tetangco Jr., the MET board of trustees, partners, sponsors, and BenCab’s friends all raised their glasses for a toast in celebration of the artist’s illustrious 50-year career. The retrospective exhibition, which features priceless artworks exhibited in public for the first time, consists of more than a hundred paintings, prints, sculptures, and more, and is available for public viewing until 27 February of next year.
