Over 350 guests gathered at St John’s Cathedral for the Fayre of St John’s, the annual Christmas concert fundraiser for Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre, which provides free practical, emotional and psychosocial support to people affected by cancer and their families in Hong Kong.

In a welcoming address, Dr. the Hon Leong Che-hung, the chairman of the board of governors, thanked everyone present for their support. Father John Chynchen, Archbishop’s Chaplain for International Ministry then gave an introduction.

The concert started with The Show Choir’s musical performance of That’s Christmas to Me and Carol of the Bells followed by a festive reading by Michele Reis and son Jayden Hui. Other notable performances included a traditional Chinese dance by Nicole Leung, two opera songs by Yale Chamber Music Society of Hong Kong and Angel Wishing Star by singer Suzan Guterres.

Cancer survivor, Raymond Chung delivered a touching testimonial in which he recounted his battle with cancer and how Maggie’s Centre services and staff were instrumental in enhancing his quality of life and instilling hope throughout his journey. Raymond then joined fellow members of Maggie’s Centre Music Therapy Choir on stage for the final musical performance, a rendition of Stand by Me.

After the concert, guests moved to MO Bar at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental for the afterparty where the live and silent auctions took place to raise funds for Maggie’s Centre.
