VIPs gathered in the courtyard of St. John’s Cathedral on a crisp autumn evening for the Fayre of St. John’s—the annual Christmas concert fundraiser that benefits Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre, which offers free practical, psychosocial and emotional support within a therapeutic setting to anyone affected by cancer. The evening started with a brief welcoming address from Che-hung Leong, the chairman of the board of governors at Maggie’s, who thanked everyone present for their ongoing support. A highlight of the Fayre are the musical performances, and this year was no different, with the Chinese International School Concert Choir who serenaded the crowd and they were followed with a rendition of “Grateful Heart” by the Maggie’s Center Music Therapy Choir. Other notable performances were Diana d’Arenberg-Parmanand and Hong Kong Tatler's managing director Sean Fitzpatrick’s rendition of “Fairytale of New York,” plus a performance by ballet dancer, Wu Fei-Fei, who performed an extra of The Nutcracker: Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Michele Reis and Peter Cheung also conducted readings of “Christmas Giving” and “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day.” In addition to the performances, many were moved by Windy Pang’s testimonial, Windy, a service user of Maggie’s recounted of her experiences with cancer, both in her family and personally, and how Maggie’s has been instrumental in enhancing the quality of her life. After the concert, guests then proceeded onto MO Bar at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental for the after party.
