"As a young girl, the rainbow slide was probably the coolest ride to go on, but my mom was so worried I’d get hurt or sick if I swallowed any water, so it took lots of convincing and good behaviour to get on. It was one of the happiest places to go with friends—and thankfully I never got ill from any of our visits."

"I remember the shuffle of floats and feet and the brave voices going down the water slides. I used to push myself down the slides with trepidation—my stomach and my heart colliding and water smacking me in the face. I would laugh from the bottom of my belly, then race up to slide again."

"Water World was always a splash of summer fun. Each ride was a mini adventure, whether being whisked away on a slide or down the riptide on a doughnut floaty. I can’t wait to discover the new park."

"Ever since I was a little girl, Water World has been a special place to visit and the source of fond childhood memories. I’ve been a board member of Ocean Park for the last seven years and it’s truly exciting to see the new Water World come to fruition. I wholeheartedly celebrate this new beginning."

"Water World is always at the centre of my childhood memories. It was a place where friendships were made and family bonds were strengthened. I remember the first sunburn I ever got was at Water World; I have never been burnt since. It was the first time my friends and I were allowed to go without parental supervision, which was a major milestone for us. In the fog of excitement, I neglected to put any sunscreen on. It was one important life lesson learnt at Water World: never go without sunscreen."

"During the summers in the early Nineties, I was dropped off daily at the Hong Kong Country Club in Deep Water Bay, where I’d stay from 9am to 9pm. Each day, I would be driven past Ocean Park and marvel at how enormous it seemed. From the club you could hear the cable cars and hourly shows, and it was only a matter of time before I sneaked out to Water World with a few friends. It was an adventure and so much fun for me during those searing summers."

"I am so excited about Water World reopening. I have many happy memories there with my siblings and friends, hosting birthday parties and youth group outings. I can’t wait to bring my own kids to experience my childhood favourites—the lazy river, the wave pool and the rainbow slides."

"I have fond memories of my summer breaks at Water World. I was 15 years old and got myself a monthly pass, which meant I could access the park any time I wanted. I loved the wave pool the most. Every 15 minutes, the waves would gather momentum and send swimmers high and low—there were up to 100 swimmers at a time in the pool. When the waves subsided, I would lie in the shallow end and sunbathe for hours."
