In celebration of the 89th St Patrick's Day, the St Patrick's Society of Selangor threw a lavish gala dinner to commemorate the largest annual Irish celebration in the world. Tickets to the event were snapped up in less than an hour of going on sale, with extra proceeds of which going to different Malaysian charities.
Traditional Irish musicians, Folksman DC, were flown in from Ireland as entertainment of night, showcasing the colourful traditional music of the region. A large troupe of young, locally trained dancers accompanied them throughout the performance before guests proceeded into the banquet hall for dinner.
Among those seen enjoying the food and music that night included His Excellency the ambassador of Ireland, Declan Kelly, His Excellency the British high commissioner Simon Featherstone, Tee Chee Heong and Tan Sri Rozali Abdul Rahman.
