For the past 20 years, the Singapore Committee for UN Women has impacted the lives of close to 1 million women in Singapore and around the region. Local initiatives include the Help Anna campaign to raise awareness about violence against women; Girls2Pioneers programme to increase the number of women in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics; and HeForShe campaign to champion gender equality. To celebrate the momentous milestone and as part of its annual fund-raising initiative, the non-profit organisation held the Snow (Say No to the Oppression of Women) Gala at Capella Singapore. The event was aptly themed "Game Changers" to summarise the difference and impact UN Women has made to the lives of many, and as a rallying call to people to contribute generously to further its cause and efforts. Some $514,412 were raised from the live and silent auctions that evening with 20 per cent going towards the female refugees held at Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh.
