A delightful holiday is coming up! Shangri-La The Fort hosts its 2021 Christmas auction with the help of artists Tim Yap, Rajo Laurel, Bea Valdes, Elena Coyiuto, and Tracie Anglo Dizon

"An Artful Christmas"! Isn’t that the most spot-on, perfect name for an initiative that seeks to bring both art and sharing into our lives this Festive Season?

In a partnership between Shangrila-La The Fort Manila and Tatler Philippines, a fun and artistic Christmas auction will take place via private Zoom on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 6pm to 7pm.

We asked five generous and talented creatives to breathe life into four-feet-tall Nutcracker statues, perfect for the home….painted and decorated according to each of their own tastes. Elena Coyiuto, Tracie Anglo Dizon, Rajo Laurel, Bea Valdes, and Tim Yap did not hesitate and enthusiastically agreed to be part of the project.

Christmas Nutcracker soldiers are decorative nutcracker statues, most commonly made to resemble a toy soldier. The Nutcracker soldier originates from late-17th century Germany. It was said that the dolls are symbols of good luck, frightening away malevolent spirits and protecting your home.

In wanting to reach out and make a tangible difference as we usher in the Holidays, the proceeds of the auction will be used to fund Noche Buena hampers which will be delivered by Shangri-La The Fort, Manila’s cheeky elves to the Kythe Foundation, Inc’s children. And who are these children? What is Kythe Foundation? Kythe is a non-profit, non-stock organisation aimed towards improving the quality of life of children undergoing treatment for cancer and other chronic illness. The foundation is dedicated towards supporting over 18,000 children every year.

Imagine what these five Nutcracker statues can look like? How will an artist and philanthropist, who has such joie de vivre, like Elena Coyuito design her statue? What about Tracie Anglo Dizon, she of the many art exhibits and African sojourns? And the designer par excellence, Rajo Laurel, who continues to create gorgeous designs for both clothing and the home? Then we have Bea Valdes, that gifted woman whose handbags and art installations are desired here and abroad? To make five, we have the irrepressibly talented Tim Yap, whose creatively spans many genres.
