Lady Gabriella Windsor’s father, Prince Michael of Kent, is the Queen’s first cousin. This makes the royal bride-to-be Prince William and Prince Harry's second cousin, once removed. Placed at the 51st in line to the throne, Lady Gabriella—known affectionately as Ella—is not a working royal, though you would have seen her with the royal family at official ceremonies and family events from time to time. She is the arts and travel director for Branding Latin America Group, as well as a freelance writer.

Often described as “the most eligible man in London”, groom-to-be Thomas Kingston—also known as Tom—works in frontier market investment and is a director of Devonport Capital. But prior to working in finance, Tom, who graduated from Bristol University with a bachelor’s degree in economic history worked in Baghdad as a project officer for the Iraqi Institute of Peace, which is responsible for mediating conflicts between Iraq’s leaders and negotiating the release of hostages.

Interesting fact: Tom used to date Kate Middleton’s sister, Pippa Middleton, back in 2011. Though the romance was short-lived, their friendship has remained strong, with Tom and Lady Gabriella attending Pippa’s wedding in 2017. He was also in a relationship with one of Prince William’s rumoured ex-girlfriends, Natalie Hicks-Lobbecke.

So when will the ceremony take place? The date has been set on May 18, and it will take place at St George’s Chapel, followed by a reception at Frogmore House in Windsor—like Prince Harry and Meghan, and Princess Eugenie and Jack did. Unlike the two royal bashes last year however, this event will be relatively private—this means no members of the public will be invited, nor will it be televised. There will also not be a carriage procession.

Not much has been revealed about the guest list, but Prince William, who is the president of the Football Association will definitely have to give it a miss, as he is expected to present the FA Cup to the winners at Wembley on the same day—he had already missed the annual event last year for Prince Harry and Meghan’s nuptials.

Senior members of the royal family, like Queen Elizabeth, are also not likely to attend. This is because “it may be a bit distant,” according to royal author Robert Jobson. Her brother, Lord Frederick Windsor’s wedding to Sophie Winkleman in 2009 was poorly attended by the royals, with the exception of Princess Eugenie—who will most probably be on the guest list.

It doesn’t help that Lady Gabriella’s mother, Princess Michael of Kent, is rather unpopular with the royal family, having earned the nickname of “Princess Pushy”. She is known to make racially insensitive remarks, even wearing an inappropriate blackamoor brooch on her first meeting with Meghan, who is biracial.
