Amal and George Clooney

Fifty years ago, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first men to walk on the moon. An Omega Speedmaster timepiece accompanied each man, although Aldrin’s was the only one that left Apollo 11 to explore the surface of the moon. Omega hosted a tribute to this historic milestone at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida and the guests included such NASA veterans as General Thomas Safford, the commander of Apollo 10, and Charlie Duke, the CAPCOM for Apollo 11 and lunar module pilot for Apollo 16, as well as Jean-François Clervoy. Omega ambassador George Clooney also attended with his wife Amal, as did Queer Eye’s Antoni Porowski and actor Douglas Booth.
