Held at two Black Sheep Restaurants locations––Carbone and Buenos Aires Polo Club––the pioneering initiative set out to “write the new rules of hospitality”, by providing mandatory Covid-19 testing for all staff at the events, along with voluntary rapid, on-the-door testing for guests. Syed Asim Hussain, founder of Black Sheep Restaurants, Michel Lamunière, Tatler Asia Group CEO, and Danny Yeung, co-founder of Prenetics hope this new model for events and gatherings will set a blueprint for hospitality brands all over the world to navigate the ongoing complexities involved in providing a safe setting for social dining.

Although social distancing rules in Hong Kong were extended over the festive period, meaning that all restaurants have to close by 6pm, the New Year’s Eve events still ensured guests had the very best start to 2021.

At Carbone, the Sinatra-themed lunch began with a red carpet entrance, setting the scene for an afternoon of Champagne, sultry lighting and Italian-American cuisine, accompanied by a playlist of remixed classics.

Meanwhile, Buenos Aires Polo Club hosted a special New Year’s edition on The Fiasco. The black tie extravaganza featured a fortune teller, smokey cocktails and even a game of truth or dare. Highlights of the menu included grilled Fine De Claire Oysters, General Pico Black Angus Tenderloin and a dulce de leche and espresso mille-feuille.
