Here’s what you missed: 104 sports enthusiasts united for a friendly game of golf in the name of charity on September 23. The Fanling course played host to The Nature Conservancy (TNC) in Hong Kong’s inaugural charity golf day, Drive for Nature, an event to raise awareness and funds for the organisation, which celebrated its 70th anniversary last month. Founded in 1951 in the US and now spanning 79 countries, TNC addresses the threats of climate change and biodiversity loss, campaigns for solutions to create more resilient ecosystems, and runs conservation projects and educational programmes around the world. Players dressed in their golfing best arrived for an early-bird breakfast before an 8am tee-off, the sea of bright outfits offsetting the gloom brought on by the rain. A light lunch followed by a prize ceremony rounded out the afternoon. Moses Tsang, co-chair of TNC’s Asia Pacific Council, who wasn’t able to attend in person, expressed his gratitude to players after the event and announced that more than HK$600,000 had been raised.
