From opening grand hotels to owning some of Hong Kong's most sought-after properties, these are the powerful Hong Kong women who made it onto Forbes' Hong Kong’s Richest 2020 list

1. Kwong Siu-hing

What she does: The 90-year-old widow of Sun Hung Kai Properties co-founder, Kwok Tak-seng, served as the company’s chairman from 2008 until 2011 and remains the biggest stockholder with a solid 26.58% stake.

2. Pansy Ho

What she does: The daughter of Macau gaming tycoon Stanley Ho, Pansy Ho chairs property developer Shun Tak Holdings which runs the Macau ferries and operates a number of luxury hotels. Outside of her father's ventures, Pansy also owns 29% of the MGM Grand Macau. Oh, and she also purchased a mansion on The Peak for a cool HK$900 million.

3. Rita Tong Liu

Net worth: US$3.6 billion (approx. HK$28 billion)
What she does: Rita Liu is the co-founder with her late husband, Thomas Liu Lit-ching—with whom she was highschool sweethearts—and chairman of Gale Well Group. The group has a vast Hong Kong property portfolio that includes whole floors in Grand Millennium Plaza, Shun Tak Centre and Lippo Centre, as well as entire buildings such as Austin Plaza and China Insurance Group Building.

She has been involved with charities for more than 30 years, including APA, Caritas, Yan Chai Hospital, Red Cross and HKU’s medical school.

4. Angela Leong

What she does: An elected Macau legislator, Angela Leong is the managing director and largest individual shareholder of casino company SJM Holdings. She is also the fourth wife of Stanley Ho, with whom she has three sons and two daughters. She is a former chairman of the Po Leung Kuk and holds a Bronze Bauhinia Star.

5. Vivien Chen

Net worth: US$1.82 billion (approx. HK$14 billion)
What she does: Vivien Chen is the youngest daughter of late billionaire Chen Din Hwa, who groomed her to take over the family business, Nan Fung Group—one of the largest business dynasties in Hong Kong. She fulfilled her role as chairman from 2009 until 2016, and remains an honorary chairman of the privately held group.

She is a mother of three, and her youngest daughter, Vanessa, is the group’s managing director; Vivien has no direct involvement in its day-to-day operations.

6. Pollyanna Chu

What she does: Pollyanna Chu was Hong Kong's wealthiest woman in 2017 based mainly on her stake in Kingston Financial Group, which she co-founded in the early 1990s. She now serves as CEO with her husband, Nicholas, as chairman.
