Patrick Kwok’s champion horses set track records at the race meeting in Sha Tin

Two horses owned by the Kwok family nabbed two prizes at The Jockey Club’s National Day race meeting in Sha Tin on Tuesday.

Patrick Kwok’s stallions Full of Beauty and Beauty Generation won the Group Three National Day Cup (1,000m) and Celebration Cup (1,400m), respectively.

The prized gallopers are no strangers to success, as the seven-year-old Beauty Generation has been on a 10-win streak for the past two racing seasons. After his most recent victory, Beauty Generation has set three records for the 1,400m, 1,600m and 2,200m races.

“[Beauty Generation] now holds three track records, [and] I think that is one of the most surprising things about this, it fills us with such happiness,” Patrick, son of Sa Sa founders Simon and Eleanor Kwok, tells the South China Morning Post.

But this racing season has come with a new set of challenges for Patrick.

“For the last seven races now I have felt the pressure,” he says. “There is a lot of pressure, your friends message you and there is the expectation, but [I] wouldn’t change it.”

Now, Patrick is hoping for a similar outcome at the the Group One Hong Kong Sprint in December, which is one of the city’s four international races.

“We are very happy to win two cups today, we are very hopeful to do the same in the internationals,” he says.

The Kwoks are known as one of the city’s most prominent racing families. In August, Simon and Eleanor donated A$1 million [HK$5.2 million] to injured Australian jockey Tye Angland, who suffered career-ending spinal injuries after a tragic jockey accident in Hong Kong.
