The Hong Kong entrepreneur opens his second WOAW gallery location with the inaugural show “Stay Tuned…” curated by Sasha Bogojev, open until May 9, 2021.

Queen’s Road Central was alive and kicking on April 8 as art lovers previewed Kevin Poon’s latest opening, sprawling new art space WOAW Gallery, ahead of its official opening on April 9.

Established by Poon in 2019, WOAW gallery’s first location on Sun Street in Wan Chai has previously featured shows by Charlie Roberts, Koichi Sato and Sam Friedman as well as product launches by American artist Kaws. It has become something of a hotspot for the city’s cool kids and Poon’s new space will be no different, curating cutting-edge art shows featuring both established and emerging artists from around the world.

The Central gallery’s inaugural show “Stay Tuned…” was curated by Poon’s friend, journalist Sasha Bogojev from art and culture magazine Juxtapoz. The exhibition’s line-up includes works from contemporary artists Bas de Witt, Rhys Lee, Shannon Peel, Christopher Regner and Aaron Elvis Jupin, who each reflect on today’s challenges of “keeping up” in a fast-paced world. The exhibit has an underlying message of hope and hints that its audience should “stay tuned” for what’s to come.

Among the crowd on opening night were Poon’s friends Evan Chow, Alan Lo, Amanda Cheung, Alan See, Wesley Ng, Yvonne Fong, William Zhao, Queenie Rosita-Law, and his wife Fiona McLeish, who is expecting their first child due later this year.

“Stay Tuned…” is open to the public until May 9, 2021.
