Group CEO Melissa Tan tells us what sparked this excellent cause to support medical frontliners nationwide

It’s been a busy but productive few weeks for luxury bedding provider Getha.

Despite the closure of its stores across the nation, the homegrown brand hasn’t forgotten its commitment to the community.

Working in tandem with The Malaysian Official Designers Association (MODA), Getha’s sewing workforce wasted no time in intensifying efforts to produce more PPE head covers and body suits for hospital frontliners.

In addition, Getha has generously donated latex mattresses and pillows to quarantine centres, clinics and hospitals across the nation, thanks to MODA’s extensive networks.

“The initiative to contribute to the current COVID-19 situation started after we noticed the conditions of certain quarantine centres,” says Getha Group CEO Melissa Tan. “While the Malaysian population who are on self-quarantine at home are feeling anxious from the confinement, we can only imagine what those in mandatory confinement in quarantine centres must be experiencing.”

Reaching out to the Malaysian Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) Quarantine Centre, Getha coordinated the delivery of 100 latex mattresses to help those in quarantine get the quality rest they need.

It has always been our company culture to contribute to the community. Any effort or contribution, however big or small, is so valuable right now.

The frontliners at University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) also have Getha to thank for getting a good night’s sleep after a long and exhausting shift.

According to Tan, a shipment of 200 latex pillows were recently delivered for hospital patients, as well as 200 Getha pillows for the hospital staff.

At present, plans are being made to deliver these items to hospitals and clinics outside the Klang Valley as well.

“Getha has the resources to help. It has always been our company culture to contribute to the community. Any effort or contribution, however big or small, is so valuable right now,” says Tan.
