In early November, Generation T supported an enriching talk by 2018 honouree Veerappan Swaminathan, the founder and director of Sustainable Living Lab, at The Conscious Festival by the Singapore-based Green is the New Black. The topic of the 20min keynote, which was part of a four-part series of talks powered by DBS Bank, was on redesigning for the circular economy.

Veerappan defined this as designing for four main reasons: longevity, service, re-use in manufacturing and material recovery. Among other thought-provoking facts about the green effects of circular design, the entrepreneur also touched on one of its underlying goals—to transform product businesses into service businesses.

Elsewhere at the festival, a morning yoga session kickstarted the day for many festival goers. There was also an outdoor photo exhibition that recognised a group of inspiring green warriors from Singapore and Hong Kong, and a bustling marketplace that featured responsibly-produced accessories, coffee, food, beauty and skincare products, and live music by local acts.
