Here's what you missed: Themed “Homecoming”, the event attracted more than 200 guests from Hong Kong’s business community in support of the organisation, which helps underserved youngsters in Hong Kong. Since 1996, the foundation has changed the lives of thousands of children from low-income families and marginalised young people, many of whom have special educational needs, from Hong Kong and mainland China, by providing them with access to free programmes spanning education, talent development and self-empowerment. The evening included contributions from children whom the foundation has helped. As well as a violin solo and a percussion performance, four of the CYLF’s Talent Development Scholarship Recipients shared their stories on how the support helped them to pursue their interests in music and dance. James Louey, the council’s secretary, spoke of his involvement with the charity since 2018. “My family and I have been involved in philanthropy for a very long time. We don’t need to be mighty to make invaluable contributions. I am so grateful to see there are so many like-mind supporters here tonight,” he said, before taking to the stage to sing “You Raise Me Up” by Norwegian-Irish duo Secret Garden to a roaring reception.
