The people listed below have shown passion and dedication to public service by means of involving themselves in medicine, philanthropy, and government service respectively

There are Filipino public servants whose duties go beyond what their day-to-day jobs ask for. In this list, Tatler shines a light upon Dr Edsel Salvana, who tirelessly disseminated helpful information amid the COVID-19 outbreak; philanthropist Enrique Razon Jr, who helped with the country's vaccination efforts; and Vince Dizon, who served as the government's COVID Testing Czar.

In those early, darkest days of the COVID-19 pandemic, so much information flew about—from the hysterical to the absurd, the sober to the informative. Dr Edsel Maurice T Salvana, an infectious disease specialist, shone in the second category.

An advocate of science communication since the Dengvaxia fiasco for which he was viciously attacked on social media, Salvana saw the need for “properly-vetted and accurate” information especially in view of this deadly enemy that medical science was then still figuring out how best to fight.

On top of being the second richest Filipino in 2021, tycoon Enrique “Ricky” Razón, Jr
wowed Metro Manila and the rest of the country with his successful mega-vaccination drive against Covid-19. Using funds from his port handling firm International Container Terminal Services Inc, Razon built a mega vaccination facility on a vacant lot of the Nayong Pilipino Foundation, targeting to help reach herd immunity by end of 2021.

The facility boasts eight ambulatory vaccination centres and 30 drive-thru booths, capable of vaccinating up to 15,000 people a day.

A native of Pampanga, Vivencio “Vince” Dizon is among the handful of political figures who have become a prominent personality amid the pandemic. He serves as the Presidential Adviser on Flagship Programmes and Projects. He is also the country’s Testing Czar for the Covid test, trace and treat programme.
