Tatler ushers in the year by asking six individuals what they are looking forward to in 2021

NICOLE CUUNJIENG ABOITIZ

While the abating of suffering—physiological, psychological and financial—is, of course, foremost in my mind, I am also looking forward to the return of physicality— holding hands, dancing, a night full of people in it.

HANNAH YULO-LUCCINI

The year 2020 was a rare opportunity to pause and appreciate what matters most in life ... some of the most basic liberties we enjoyed were taken away from us, so I am looking forward to having a fresh new perspective coming into 2021. I look forward to enjoying mundane activities without fear or insecurity, the ability to travel again, to spend time with family and to the death of social distancing. I look forward to never ever having to wear a mask again and to be able to give close friends a warm hug and a peck on the cheek. I look forward to my daughter turning one, saying her first words and learning how to walk. I look forward to the grand adventure of my husband and I designing and building our first home together. Workwise, I am anticipating a very strong rebound for the real estate industry and as chief investment officer of DoubleDragon Properties Corp, I am very much looking forward to listing DoubleDragon’s first REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust)— DDMP REIT, INC.

JULIE BOSCHI

The most anticipated event for 2021 would probably be the global distribution of the vaccine. I pray that it will come sooner. I have been daydreaming about travelling to my favourite places as well as exploring new ones. I’m looking forward to seeing friends and hugging my family who lives far away. But more than going back to normal, so to speak, I am looking forward to a more mindful world where giving respect to our environment goes beyond lip service, where we hold our relationships precious. It is also my golden year so I am claiming 2021 to be a very exciting year.

GIO PANLILIO

I hope 2021 is a bit kinder to us all. I’m looking forward to the end of e-numans (virtual social drinking) and seeing my friends and family in person again. To live music and sweaty crowds. To finding photos out in the world without worry. To making new relationships and reconnecting with old ones.

HINDY WEBER

I look forward to more edible gardens now that more people realise how crucial it is to have a supply of trustworthy food. I look forward to a greater understanding among people about how there cannot only ever be one solution to any problem—even a public health problem. I believe in holistic approaches that always take into account our direct harmony with the environment, the inherent biodiversity of our planet that wishes us to thrive, and our sacred resilient intelligent bodies. I hope to see face-to-face schooling for our children who thrive and learn better among their peers. I hope to see more thriving small and home-based businesses because they add a lot of character and warmth to the market. I hope for MORE HUGS with friends and family; and that we all uphold what it truly means to be HUMAN.

MARCO LOBREGAT

I’ve picked up a few new skills and started projects in education, technology, international sales and marketing, which mean a lot to me this year. I am looking forward to honing these skills and seeing these projects through in 2021.
