Tatler ushers in the year by asking six individuals what they are looking forward to in 2021
NICOLE CUUNJIENG ABOITIZ
While the abating of suffering—physiological, psychological and financial—is, of course, foremost in my mind, I am also looking forward to the return of physicality— holding hands, dancing, a night full of people in it.

The year 2020 was a rare opportunity to pause and appreciate what matters most in life ... some of the most basic liberties we enjoyed were taken away from us, so I am looking forward to having a fresh new perspective coming into 2021. I look forward to enjoying mundane activities without fear or insecurity, the ability to travel again, to spend time with family and to the death of social distancing. I look forward to never ever having to wear a mask again and to be able to give close friends a warm hug and a peck on the cheek. I look forward to my daughter turning one, saying her first words and learning how to walk. I look forward to the grand adventure of my husband and I designing and building our first home together. Workwise, I am anticipating a very strong rebound for the real estate industry and as chief investment officer of DoubleDragon Properties Corp, I am very much looking forward to listing DoubleDragon’s first REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust)— DDMP REIT, INC.

The most anticipated event for 2021 would probably be the global distribution of the vaccine. I pray that it will come sooner. I have been daydreaming about travelling to my favourite places as well as exploring new ones. I’m looking forward to seeing friends and hugging my family who lives far away. But more than going back to normal, so to speak, I am looking forward to a more mindful world where giving respect to our environment goes beyond lip service, where we hold our relationships precious. It is also my golden year so I am claiming 2021 to be a very exciting year.

I hope 2021 is a bit kinder to us all. I’m looking forward to the end of e-numans (virtual social drinking) and seeing my friends and family in person again. To live music and sweaty crowds. To finding photos out in the world without worry. To making new relationships and reconnecting with old ones.
