The evening of 5th December 2013 saw Wei-Ling Contemporary host an auction in fund-raising conjunction with the gallery’s annual 18@8 group exhibition. This year’s instalment entitled "18@8 Mirror, Mirror on the Wall" deals with the concept of narcissism - the state of the world today and how social media has changed people and the way they view themselves.

A collaboration with Furla, the Italian premium leather goods and accessories brand, this year’s project brought to the forefront 12 selected artists who represent some of the country’s leading names in the Malaysian contemporary art scene today. Furla very generously provided 12 Candy bags which each artist then transformed into a one-of-a-kind ‘art’ bag.

Guests who were in attendance consisted of both new and long-time collectors and friends of the gallery, among them Nicholas Bloy and Claire Bloy, Meera Sen, Datuk Kelvin Tan and Tunku Nurul Hayati. The auction managed to raise a nett total of RM70,600 for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
