Looking for the best wellness events in town? From The New Moon's first pop-up event, to an intention setting and gong bath workshop, here are the best wellness events this September 2021

Welcome back to our monthly series where we round up the best health and wellness events in Hong Kong.

From a New Moon gathering at the Four Seasons, to the opening of Hong Kong’s first female-only wellness studio, and a Mid-Autumn Festival gong bath, you’ll be all zenned out and prepared for 2021’s final Mercury in retrograde coming later this month.

1. #SleepHappy by Happiness Factory

When: September 4, 11am to 4:30pm

Where: Asia Society Hong Kong, 9 Justice Drive, Admiralty, Hong Kong

What: Happiness Factory will be hosting a series of workshops on sleep in the coming months, with its first workshop taking place on the first Saturday of September. Guests will be able to learn how to improve their quality of sleep from a combination of health tech and functional medicine insights. 

The workshop will begin with a bodywork and breathwork class with sound healing, followed by lunch at the Italian-Japanese fusion restaurant, Ammo. After lunch, you’ll be invited to a fireside chat with a panel of health experts including functional medicine and hormones doctor, Dr. Laurena Law; clinical psychologist Dr. Adrian Law; Belun Technology founder, Dr. Lydia Leung; cannabinoid researcher, Arthur Chan; and functional medicine and sleep coach, Mr. Cavan Chan. 

The schedule continues with a sleep tech workshop with Belun Technology, a company that tracks your sleep to provide an in-depth sleep diagnosis afterwards. Finally, the workshop will end with a yoga Nidra workshop—a type of yoga that’ll move you into a deep state of conscious awareness sleep.

2. New Moon Intention Setting and Gong Meditation by Four Seasons Hotel

When: September 6, 7pm

Where: What: 6/F, Spa Concierge, Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong, 8 Finance Street, Central, Hong Kong

What: Four Seasons will be having a New Moon intention setting and gong bath session on September 6. Led by meditation guide, Dr. Tania Bardhan and gong master, Cheryl Rodriquez, you’ll be able to harvest the New Moon’s energy and gather its powerful vibrations during this session. 

The New Moon—meaning the time when the sun and moon are aligned—is the perfect time to set intentions and start new projects. As the New Moon transitions towards fullness throughout the month, your goals and projects will grow alongside it.

3. Silent Meditation and Wellbeing Retreat by Bliss Body Journeys

When: September 6 to 8

Where: Location revealed upon booking

What: Bliss Body Journeys will be hosting a three-day, two-night silent meditation and wellbeing retreat at the beginning of September.

Accessing the spiritual silent practice of Buddhism and using this time to connect to the Earth and self, guests will be led through restorative yoga and meditation sessions to build mental and emotional wellness. Holistic vegan cuisine will be served and a number of different suites and rooms are available for booking.

4. Expressing The Inner Explorer Workshop by Rosewood Asaya

When: September 9, 7:15pm to 8:30pm

Where: Asaya Glass House, Rosewood Hong Kong, No18, Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong

What: Learn how to speak up about your unspoken desires, manage your energy and cultivate awareness at Asaya’s Expressing The Inner Explorer Workshop. Led by Sarah Kalmeta, a Hong Kong-based life coach, reiki practitioner and public speaker, guests will be led through a grounding and energy release exercise, followed by a wisdom and practical guidance segment that’ll help you build up your own wellness practice.

5. Wellness Junk by GetHigh x HK Breezy Boats

When: September 12

Where: Central Pier pickup 

What: Organised by GetHigh and HK Breezy Boats, the two will be throwing a wellness junk boat party with plenty of drinks, food, floaties to go around. Limited to twenty people, the yacht will set sail for the sparkling Whiskey Bay. Participants can also choose to take part in two wellness workshops on the boat including a dance workshop led by Chi Chi, a Hong Kong-based dancehall practitioner, dancer and DJ.

6. The New Moon ‘Smoke & Mirrors ’ Pop-up

When: September 18 and 19, 10am to 6pm 

Where: 3/F, Hong Kong Jewellery Building, 178-180 Queen’s Road Central, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong

What: Online wellness platform, The New Moon will be holding their first in-real-life pop-up shop this weekend. Held at founder Kaye Dong's architecture studio in Sheung Wan, the space has been transformed into a crystal and wellness haven for the weekend. Guests will be able to shop a curated selection of products including incense from Bodha, palo santo from Incausa, as well as crystals, candles, self-care notebooks and more. 

On Saturday, tarot philosopher Peter Duchemin will also be available for tarot readings for those who spend over HK$800 at the pop-up shop, while an introductory crystal workshop will be held on Sunday at 3pm.

7. Discover Your Feminine Potential at Studio La Lune

When: September 25, 1:30pm to 5:30pm

Where: Studio La Lune, 4/F Kai Kwong House 13 Wyndham Street, Central, Hong Kong

What: The city’s newest female-only wellness boutique studio, La Luna is one we’re looking forward to visiting when it officially opens on September 12. Later this month, energy coach and founder of Voltage PR, Coco Alexandra and mindfulness coach, Viv Kan will be hosting a women’s urban retreat at La Lune, providing you with a chance to reconnect into your feminine body with other like-minded women.

8. Family and Friends Farming Day by Freida Club x Perma Club

When: September 22, 12pm to 3:30pm

Where: Perma Club, Hang Hau Wing Lung Road, Clear Water Bay, Hong Kong

What: Permaculture focused club, Perma Club will be kicking off their reopening on September 22, hosting a family and friends family day in collaboration with Sai Ying Pun’s Freida Club. On the day, guests will learn how to harvest vegetables and have a chance to cook together as a community while appreciating mother nature.

9. Mid-Autumn Festival Gong Bath by Red Doors Studio

When: September 22, 5pm to 6:30pm

Where: Red Doors Studio, Flat A, 21st Floor, Lee Fund Centre, 31 Wong Chuk Hang Road, Hong Kong

What: Wong Chuk Hang’s meditation space, Red Doors Studio will be organising a special gong bath to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival the day following the holiday.
