Missing the gym? Check out these online shops selling fitness gear and get "quarantoned" in the safety of your own home

As more guidelines detailing the presumed shift from Enhanced Community Quarantine to General Community Quarantine emerge, certain businesses—whether they are permitted to operate at full capacity or at 50 per cent—are preparing to get back on track. Unfortunately for the exercise buffs, gym and fitness boutiques are to remain closed indefinitely, as establishments of such nature posit health hazards that may aggravate the current situation.

Being someone who used to spend a significant amount of time in fitness studios, I too am one of those scrounging around on the internet for equipment to use at home. I’ve purchased weights, resistance bands, and even my own spinning bike—because some things we can’t just live without—but some friends have gone the extra mile, building their own full home gym bit by glorious iron bit.

Interested in following suit and keeping "quarantoned”? Here are some online stores accepting orders for fitness equipment.

Toby's Sports

Back in action to cater to a fitness community in need, sporting goods shop Toby’s offers all sorts of equipment at competitive prices. Scour the website for machines such as treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes, and strength training necessities like barbells, agility ladders, dumbbells, and bench presses. Payments are to be made online, and items can be claimed either through arranging for your own courier or pick-up at the warehouse in Pasig.

Chris Sports

Offering a wide variety of sporting—badminton, basketball, boxing, among many others—commercial fitness, nutrition, and even camping needs, Chris Sports truly has anything and everything you might need for that DIY home gym. They have an extensive catalogue of on-hand equipment, but are accepting pre-orders as well. If you’re running low on your supplements, they also carry products by Reflex Nutrition, Crampfix, and HIGH5. Payments can be made online via credit card or bank deposit, and delivery covers the Metro Manila area.

Active

Want to build a home gym but not sure where to start? Active has gone the extra mile by putting together packages to fit both your fitness needs and space constraints. For 7,500 pesos, you can order equipment scaled to fit a 10 sqm area. Should you wish to scale up, they also offer packages for up to 150 sqm. Also for sale on Active’s website are their coveted resistance bands and the much talked about YBell, a nifty bit of equipment perfect for kettlebell, dumbbell, and double grip med ball exercises. They deliver free of charge within Metro Manila and offer low-cost provincial shipping.

PlayHard Fitness

Since the ECQ period began, PlayHard Fitness has been dedicating its efforts to bringing fitness equipment to the homes of exercise buffs. Aside from the usual offerings, they also sell flooring (interlocking exercise mats, high density rubber tiles, and weightlifting platforms), wall mounted rigs, and indoor tire flip machines and rowers. For those into boxing, heavy bags and mitts from Venum are available via their online shop as well. Deliveries are made via Lalamove and/or Transportify, with the customer shouldering the fees.

Ride Revolution

The first boutique cycling studio in the Philippines to make launch online cycling classes via Zoom, Ride Revolution opened its virtual doors to riders both old and new by putting their in-studio Schwinn AC Performance Plus bikes up for sale (and rent, which is currently ongoing). While these bikes were quick to sell out, interested parties can check out the Schwinn IC8 bikes that are now available. Engineered for an optimum at-home indoor cycling experience, these bikes comes with a full colour backlit LCD display for tracking time, distance, and calories, an integrated tablet holder, and Bluetooth connectivity. The SRP is 63,000 pesos (with an option to avail of the Schwinn Triple Link Pedals so you can clip in for a more secure ride for an additional 9,000 pesos), payable through BPI or Paypal. Included in the package is a free one-month subscription for the live online classes. A 30 per cent deposit is required to reserve a bike.

Saddle Row

With Saddle Row, you can now Ride, Row, and Realign from the safety of your own home. Purchase your very own water rower, heavy bag, weighted ball, and resistance bands, among others, and join the crew for their virtual sweat sessions. The rowers cost either 147,840 pesos (oak) or 189,280 (walnut), but Saddle Row members can avail of these with a significant discount. Payments can be made via Metrobank bank transfer or JustPayTo, with additional delivery charges to be taken care of by the customer. The equipment list (which is often updated to reflect current stock) and necessary forms can be accessed via a Google Drive link on Saddle Row's Instagram page.
