Vacheron Constantin once again asserts its pioneering spirit with the launch of the Métiers d’Art Tribute to The Celestial collection, a majestic harmony between the boundless universe and refined artisanal mastery.
Since its founding, Vacheron Constantin has held a deep fascination with astronomy. Beyond mastering the rare expertise of capturing celestial phenomena within timepieces, the maison has also cultivated a legacy of creations inspired by the zodiac. Sandrine Donguy, Product Director at Vacheron Constantin, explains that blending zodiac signs with constellations in this collection is a way to connect the technical rigour of watchmaking with the enigmatic allure of astrology.
The Métiers d’Art Tribute to The Celestial collection embodies Vacheron Constantin’s “Quest for Excellence”, a 270-year commitment to merging technical prowess, artistic craftsmanship and refined finishing at the highest level.

The visual allure of the dial is elevated by 96 baguette-cut sapphires (approximately 3.87 carats), set with precision across the bezel, lugs and crown. This gem-setting process, carried out in Vacheron Constantin’s métiers d’art workshop, requires 27 hours of focused craftsmanship. Particularly striking is the channel setting on the bezel, which creates the illusion of sapphires “floating” in an uninterrupted halo of light around the dial. The white gold hour markers, engraved with a ribbed motif, mirror the geometry of the sapphires and guilloché engraving. Even the 18K white gold clasp is adorned with 16 baguette sapphires, totalling around 0.53 carats.

At the artistic core of the collection lies the maison’s proprietary figurative guilloché technique, developed by its master artisans. Departing from the abstract designs of traditional guilloché, this method enables the creation of finely detailed imagery, transforming a heritage craft into a modern artistic expression. Approximately 16 hours of painstaking work are devoted to illustrating each zodiac sign. For the four humaniform signs—Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Aquarius—opaline accents lend an added layer of sophistication and depth.

Powering the collection is the ultra-thin self-winding Calibre 2160 with tourbillon. With only 188 components, this movement is remarkably slim at 5.65 mm, exemplifying the maison’s enduring dedication to both technical ingenuity and aesthetic refinement.

Operating at 2.5 Hz (18,000 vibrations per hour), the Calibre 2160 provides an impressive 80-hour power reserve. Its 22K gold oscillating weight is positioned peripherally, allowing for an unobstructed view of the meticulously decorated movement, including perlage on the main plate, hand-bevelled bridges with Côtes de Genève finishing, circular-brushed wheels, and polished screws. On the dial side, a thermally blued screw contrasts beautifully with the polished tourbillon bar and Maltese Cross-shaped tourbillon cage.
