Cover Vacheron Constantin Égérie self-winding in 18k 5N pink gold

A stylish contemporary watch collection for women, Égérie now comes adorned entirely in ultra-feminine 18k pink gold

Inspired by a woman's desire for a contemporary timepiece that can stand the test of time, the Égérie was launched in early 2020, heralding a new era in Vacheron Constantin's rich legacy in feminine watches. Featuring a pleated pattern drawn from haute couture's art of tapestry on the dial, Égérie is a collection premised on elegance and timelessness. This is achieved via its slender 35mm case, attractive silvery opaline dial with interlocking circles, and an in-house calibre that gives the watch a quiet strength complete with a sturdy frequency of 4Hz. The crown sits between one and two o'clock for a better fit on the wrist.

The oldest Swiss watch manufacture in the world has been producing the finest feminine watches since its inception, with the Queen of Romania Elisabeth Pauline Ottilie Louise de Wield among its devoted fans. One of the oldest pocket watches created for women harks all the way back to 1815, and it was engraved with a floral motif and adorned with garnets.

Did you know that the first wristwatches were made for women? Vacheron Constantin started producing these wrist adornments in the 19th century, with the oldest on record being a model that was presented at the World's Fair in Paris in 1889. Its bangle was composed of two winged goddesses.

Throughout the 20th century, Vacheron Constantin continuously innovated its feminine offerings, alternately inspired by trends (Art Deco) and the changing demands of women as society modernised (progressive shapes as exemplified in a 1972 watch with asymmetrical case and integrated bracelet). Meanwhile, its classic Patrimony and complicated Traditionelle models have also been adapted for the feminine wrists.

The new Égérie continues the narrative with a piece crafted entirely in 18k 5N pink gold, from the case and bracelet (which is designed to be soft and supple like leather) to the delicate leaf-type hands and Arabic numerals. The date is indicated in the smaller circle, which is set with diamonds along its periphery. The signature pleated pattern lends the dial a distinctive texture and depth. The bezel is also set with diamonds (a total of 58 of them) while the crown is given an alluring flourish with moonstone.

Beating within is the self-winding 1088 calibre with 40 hours of power reserve. The parts are finished in high-end Cotes de Geneve motif while the oscillating weight takes on the shape of Vacheron Constantin's Maltese Cross logo, all of which can be enjoyed via the sapphire caseback.

The final result is form and function in a stunningly beautiful watch.
