The Best Watches From Bulgari, Hublot, TAG Heuer & Zenith At LVMH Watch Week Dubai 2020
The first ever LVMH Watch Week in Dubai unveiled a couple of timepieces that will thrill the under-served female collectors, an instant gold classic and a silver fox of a Carrera.
Bulgari Serpenti Seduttori Tourbillon
Redesigned last year for a new generation of women, the Serpenti watch is elevated with the inclusion of the tourbillon, the complication that cancels the effects of gravitational pull on timing precision. The movement, BVL150, is crafted to resemble the case shape, which mimics the serpent's head.
Complementing it are the ultra-luxurious diamonds in snow setting on the dial and case, which comes in a choice of 18k red or white gold. For maximum sparkle, opt for the white gold with matching bracelet set with round brilliant-cut diamonds.
Hublot Classic Fusion Gold Crystal
In order to create gold crystals, which are very rare in its natural form, Hublot's engineers melt 24k gold, then collect the particles that form when the vapour touches a cold surface and agglomerate them to form crystals in various shapes.
The gold crystals are placed by hand on the dial but that's not the tricky part. To ensure that they stay in place, the gold crystals have to be "housed" in transparent lacquer which must be carried out in a vacuum and repeated at least 20 times to achieve optimal hold. Available in 38mm or 45mm, the gold - and its unique pattern - stands out against the black of the watch which includes a black ceramic case.
TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Silver Limited Edition
Celebrating its 160th anniversary this year, TAG Heuer has chosen to do another re-imagination of its iconic Carrera watch from 1964. The familiar monochrome silver dial remains the main design highlight of the latest chronograph with a few tweaks, namely moving the seconds counter from 6 o'clock to 9 o'clock due to the construction of the new movement, Heuer 02.
Limited to 1,860 pieces - the number refers to the year of its founding - the Heuer 02 movement is TAG Heuer's newest in-house innovation, an ultra-thin column-wheel chronograph movement with 80 hours of power reserve.
Zenith Defy Midnight
Zenith marks a new milestone this year with its first ever collection created specifically for its female clientele - the Defy Midnight. The smart-looking sports watch recreates the night sky on the dial, available in polished blue and grey as well as mother-of-pearl. Hour marker are set with diamonds. A thoughtful touch is the interchangeable strap that allows one to create different looks for different occasions on the same watch.
Beating within is the automatic Elite 670 SK movement with a star-shaped oscillating weight with satin finishing.
