The director of culinary and operations at Les Amis joins hands with the Swiss family-owned luxury giant

The next time you dine at Les Amis, try spotting what watch chef Sebastien Lepinoy is wearing on his wrist. It is the Chopard Alpine Eagle, the every day watch made out of Lucent steel, the brand’s specially formulated steel variant. The director of culinary and operations at the three Michelin-starred restaurant has recently joined the Swiss luxury house as its friend of the brand. “After discovering Chopard’s collection of haute horology, I’ve been enamoured by the brand’s philosophy which is very similar to what I try to espouse through my cuisine,” said Lepinoy. “I need a watch that has the calibre to withstand the grind of the kitchen yet evoke an aura of sophistication when I greet my guests or attend special events.”

The partnership was conceived to bring like-minded people together, with the melding of two quite distinct crafts, but both created with finesse, craftsmanship and a high level of technicality. This two-year collaboration will commence with a specially created menu by Lepinoy for the friends and guests of Chopard and Les Amis.

On Lepinoy's appointment, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, the brand's co-president Chopard said: “At Chopard, why do we call ourselves the ‘Artisan of Emotions’? It is because of our authentic, human and positive vision of the world and our passion and inspirations of our expertise and artisanship reflected through our creations. Chef Sebastien Lepinoy of Les Amis’ passion is also reflected in the mastery of his creations and we think it is the beginning of a good partnership and friendship."
