It’s hard to believe that there’s just one year left until the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 begin in China—but with just a few short months to go, Omega, the official timekeeper of the Olympics, has officially kicked off the celebrations with a new commemorative timepiece.
“Omega has been the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932,” the watchmaker explained in a press release. “During that time, the company has been proud to record the dreams of the world’s greatest athletes and time many of the most famous sporting moments in history. Beijing 2022 will mark the company’s 30th occasion in the role.”
The commemorative Seamaster Diver 300M “Beijing 2022” Special Edition will feature a 42 mm stainless steel case, a unique grade 5 titanium bezel ring, and a 60-minute diving scale in positive relief. In terms of aesthetics, the special edition timepiece will feature a sun-brushed blue ceramic dial, laser-engraved waves along rhodium-plated indexes, and hands filled with Super-LumiNova. The watch will also include five special minute-markets at 2H, 4H, 8H, 10H and 12H coloured to match the five iconic Olympic Rings.
