Hublot’s Big Bang Meca-10 P2P is the first watch that can only be paid for with cryptocurrency.

With Hublot, you can always expect the unexpected. The maverick Swiss brand has now produced a limited edition watch that is sold exclusively online but can only be purchased using Bitcoin. Working in partnership with OS Limited (OSL), a leading digital asset brokerage in Asia, the Big Bang Meca-10 P2P also marks the 10th anniversary of Bitcoin, which was created in November 2008.

Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, and Dave Chapman, chairman and co-founder of OSL, launched the watch earlier this week at OSL headquarters in Hong Kong. It is a limited edition of 210 pieces, a number that references the 10th anniversary as well as the global limit of 21 million Bitcoins.

The watch also pays homage to Big Bang, an important model in the Hublot family. As the flag-bearer of the watchmaker’s Art of Fusion philosophy, this exclusive Big Bang boasts a microblasted black ceramic case, a high tech material containing zirconium dioxide pressed at high temperature.

The 44mm case houses the skeleton HUB1201 with 10-day power reserve, its indicating gear visible at ‘6’. The sapphire crystal caseback is printed with the Blockchain on a map of the world, lending it a cyber-cool vibe. The Blockchain also inspired the pattern on the blue calfskin leather strap with black rubber lining.

According to www.hublot.com, pre-sale for the Meca-10 P2P is oversubscribed but there is still a chance to get your hands on it by registering online.
