The two pieces are a tribute to two events: the ninth edition of the Only Watch charity auction and the 200th anniversary of the inking chronograph created by French watchmaker Nicolas Rieussec
In celebration of two important milestones this year—the ninth edition of the renowned Only Watch charity auction and the 200th anniversary of the inking chronograph created by French watchmaker Nicolas Rieussec—Montblanc has crafted the Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph Only Watch 21 Unique Piece to be auctioned off together with a wooden replica of the historical chronograph from 1821.
There will also be an exclusive and immersive high watchmaking experience alongside the auction, all of which are in support of research for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a genetic disorder characterised by progressive muscle degeneration. Since 2009, Montblanc has supported the Only Watch Charity auction held founder by Luc Pettavino. The watchmaker has helped raise over 70 million euros to date.
The ninth edition will unite 53 watchmakers from both established and smaller independent brands to express the industry's creativity and generosity via exceptional timepieces that come from the heart.

These luxury watches will embark on a world tour starting from September 22 at the Monaco Yacht Show in the charity's hometown. The ninth edition also coincides with the bicentenary of the first inking chronograph invented by Nicolas Rieussec. Montblanc is donating a one-of-a-kind Montblanc Star Legacy Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph Only Watch 21 Unique Piece which features two recognisable, rotating, horizontally-aligned, chronograph discs with fixed double index, combined with a gold-coloured dial inspired by the original chronograph device from 1821.
Nicolas Rieussec was the sixth royal watchmaker to the King of France. To honour his legacy, the wooden replica is inspired by the original device, made of a walnut burl and features two white enamel rotating chronograph discs. In addition to these two timepieces, the successful bidder will also receive a special invitation to a rare experience at the Montblanc Manufacture in Villeret, which is located in a beautiful area of the Jura mountains.
The winner will discover the know-how and craftsmanship by assembling a Montblanc Calibre MBR200 with the master watchmaker who has created the unique chronograph.
