Time is one of the most valuable gifts a person can give to a loved one
The relationship between a parent and child is always a special one, and evolves with every new stage of life. As one enters adulthood, our parents, who may be our childhood heroes, become mentors and partners who help us along on the journey of life.
Strategic consultant Priya Anand tells us about her relationship with her father Gopal Anand, who heads a dairy product firm. Now that Priya is an adult, their relationship has taken on a new form, with the two finding commonalities in topics such as business, sports and music. Most importantly, however, the duo still finds time in their busy lives for each other—and that is the most precious gift of all.
Priya is looking to gift her father a Louis Vuitton watch to symbolise their treasured time together. She tells us more.
What is your life like at the moment, and what are you focusing your energies on?
Priya Anand (PA) I lead an extremely busy but incredibly exciting life as my work allows me to travel all over the world and experience different cultures. I focus my remaining energies on being physically and mentally fit. I try to achieve this through boxing, spinning, running and spending time with my loved ones.

Can you describe your relationship with your father?
PA Our relationship is ever-evolving. We are not the most expressive of individuals but as I grow older, I feel that we find greater commonality in our shared passion for business, sports and music. He has become my best friend and adviser in many, if not all, aspects of my life.
What are some of the lessons that your father has imparted to you?
PA Interestingly enough, my father has imparted one key lesson and that is simply to love. Love what you do, love who you are, and love who you are with—only then will you succeed in life. I have definitely found it difficult at times to remain as positive as that advice requires you to be, but as with all things, practice makes perfect.
