Chanel has announced that Academy Award-nominated actress, Margot Robbie is the new face of J12—she has a history with the fashion house since 2018

Chanel has tapped Australian actress, Margot Robbie as the new face J12, the House's watch collection, named and inspired by the silhouettes of racing yachts. Over the last two decades, J12 spearheaded the watch industry's ceramic boom.

The Academy Award-nominated actress has a history with Chanel, dating back to 2018 when she wore a Chanel piece at the Oscars and was appointed as the house ambassador. In 2018, she was named the face of the Coco Neige 2018-2019 campaign shot by Karl Lagerfeld and in 2019, was chosen as the face of the Gabrielle Chanel Essence fragrance.

Earlier this week at the Oscars 2021, Robbie donned a custom mermaid dress—that took 205 hours to make—which was inspired by a piece in Chanel's Autumn/Winter 2019-2020 haute couture collection. She was also wearing Chanel fine jewellery.

As the face of the new J12 campaign, Robbie is joining nine other J12 ambassadors such as Keira Knightley, Lily-Rose Depp and Naomi Campbell who will share their personal experiences about a second that changed their lives. "Everything is a story of seconds for a woman who is in touch with her life and with this intimate timepiece that can shape destiny in a few seconds. The J12 is the watch for this woman," says Chanel in a statement.

The new campaign is focusing on the importance of seconds, something that has always been significant for a House that was created by a woman who knew how to follow her instincts. And the J12 is the perfect accompaniment to those who value every second.

For Robbie, being part of Chanel is "a dream to represent such a timeless and iconic brand. The history of the Chanel woman is so exciting and the brand has remained such a power feminine standard of style. I’m thrilled to be part of the Chanel family and continue their celebration of women and fashion."
