Rolex pays homage to its aviation heritage with the new Oyster Perpetual Air-King.

The rolex oyster perpetual Air-King has made a triumphant return. While the Air-King name remains intact, the new timepiece by Rolex features several newer, more alluring features while staying synonymous with the brand’s signature classic styling and contemporary luxury. Rolex has brought back its classic aviation watch with marked changes, while still staying true to its aeronautical heritage.

The Air-King is the embodiment of Rolex’s ties to the world of aviation—ties that date back to the 1930s. It was a period of significant progress in aircraft performance as aviation technology took leaps forward and many firsts were achieved. Rolex was there for it all.

The new 40mm case is a welcome and much-anticipated change in today’s luxury watch industry. The case is crafted in 904L steel, a signature of the brand’s steel watches. The unique new black dial featuresa combination of large 3, 6 and 9 numerals and a prominent minute scale for navigational time readings.

The dial bears the name Air-King in the same lettering that was designed especially for the model in the 1950s. A pair of 18ct white gold hands, a green seconds hand and Chromalight display with blue luminescence make telling the time a breeze even in lowlight conditions.

Meanwhile, the Air-King’s Oyster case is a paragon of robustness, guaranteeing waterproofness to a depth of 100m. Rolex’s innovation of hermetically screwing down the case back to the solid middle case creates an elegant casing that excels in both form and function.

Fitted with the Twinlock double waterproofness system, the winding crown screws down securely against the case. The waterproof Oyster case provides optimum protection for the Air-King’s high precision movement.
