Bulgari scales the apex of technical watchmaking with yet another chiming watch
Coming a long way since the 1970s when it made waves with the fashion-forward Bulgari-Bulgari watch, the Italian firm today finds itself sitting atop the peak of haute horlogerie, a position cemented by the launch of the Daniel Roth Carillon Tourbillon.

Bulgari has launched other minute repeaters before, notably the Magsonic Grande Sonnerie Tourbillon, and the Minute Repeater, housed in the Gerald Genta collection’s Arena and Octo cases, respectively. There was also the Daniel Roth Grande Sonnerie Perpetual Calendar, which was launched last year.
With the Daniel Roth Carillon Tourbillon, Bulgari emphatically moves itself into the ring of all-time horological greats with yet another in-house grande complication.

The star of this timepiece is the hand-wound Calibre DR3300 movement, which is fully conceived and developed from within Bulgari’s Le Sentier factory. A distinctive feature is its unique three-hammer striking mechanism, which sounds especially melodic as it chimes the time in three different pitches. The aural pleasure is heightened by the gongs, which are fixed to the mainplate and feature a friction reduction mechanism to minimise audio interference when the hammers strike.
To accentuate the sonic beauty, the watch features a cut-out dial that displays the hammers and gongs from both front and back. The look is further enhanced by a polished pink gold case, and exquisitely blacked and finished plates that serve as backdrop to the sculptural minute repeater and tourbillon mechanisms.
Besides writing itself into history books as one of Bulgari’s most symbolic modern timepieces, the Daniel Roth Carillon Tourbillon will take pride of place as one of its most stunning.
