Two aviation changemakers unite to celebrate Cathay's 76th anniversary and expanded membership programme

As an unparalleled tribute to the history of flight, legendary watchmaker Breitling has produced 200 individually numbered timepieces in an exclusive collaboration with Cathay. The Navitimer B01 Cathay Pacific Limited Edition Chronograph not only honours those who led the way in the aviation industry but also symbolises Cathay’s elevation into a luxury travel and lifestyle brand through a revolutionary offering of premium products and experiences for its members.

Making its debut in 1952, the Navitimer was created specifically for pilots, as an instrument to perform essential flight calculations. The innovation, also known as a navigation timer, represents a breakthrough where form met function. Instantly recognisable as a Breitling creation, the fruits of the anniversary alliance between Swiss watchmaker and Hong Kong airline are a testament to the evolution of aviation.

The collaboration sees the historical design of the Navitimer modernised with a cambered sapphire crystal, Cathay’s signature jade green and a redesigned display caseback showcasing the in-house COSC-certified Caliber 01 chronograph movement. Uniquely engraved with individual numbering, the words “Cathay Pacific Edition” and the airline’s iconic brushwing, a 43mm stainless steel case contrasts with polished finishing, an evolved slide rule and white subdials.

There is a deep synergy between this iconic style and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the world’s largest pilots’ club. After it took on the Navitimer as its official timepiece in 1954, the chronograph soon became a favourite among pilots because of its advanced engineering. The collector’s model pays homage to the original with the return of the AOPA logo, embossed on the face of this limited-edition Breitling.

As part of the airline’s refined membership programme, which merges the best of Marco Polo Club and Asia Miles together, fans of the special edition collaboration can pre-order online with Cathay. Breitling, with these unique timepieces, is one of the legendary partners of the premium travel lifestyle brand, as Cathay endeavours to elevate life for its members around the world and inspire more incredible journeys to come.
