Tatler Singapore brought together art lovers and horology enthusiasts for a dinner to explore an exhibition of two iconic artists and discover Breguet’s exceptional savoir faire
As an array of events and exhibitions popped up across the island for Singapore Art Week 2023, Tatler Singapore too held a special evening celebrating art, in partnership with Breguet and Opera Gallery.
Friends of Tatler were chauffeured in BMW vehicles to dinner at Opera Gallery in ION Orchard, set among the exhibition A New World, which features the bold and colourful works of Yayoi Kusama and Niki de Saint Phalle. Despite their different backgrounds and cultures, both artists have similar artistic processes; finding liberation through creation and transforming pain into vivid and joy-inducing pieces.
Upon arrival, guests made their way around the gallery, exploring Kusama’s famous polka dotted paintings and Saint Phalle’s signature whimsical sculptures while sipping champagne and enjoying canapés. Several Breguet timepieces were also on display, including creations from the Reine de Naples, Classique and Tradition collections—each adorned with the manufacture’s exquisite engraved motifs.

Above Guests tried their hand at guillochage with a machine dating back more than 100 years
To gain a deeper understanding of Breguet’s engraving techniques, guests had the opportunity to get hands-on with a guillochage machine that dates back more than 100 years and is still used by artisans at Breguet’s manufacture today. After trying their hand at engraving a brass plate with the machine, guests were able to take their handiwork home.
As everyone took their seats for dinner, Vice President of Breguet Southeast Asia, Fabien Levrion, welcomed everyone with a few words and toasting to the night ahead. A four-course meal was served, beginning with Japanese Amberjack sashimi dressed in a white coconut “curry” creme, followed by Atlantic Cod with potato brandade. For the main course, guests had a choice between duck or beef, and dessert was a chocolate gateau with mango.
